The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory
Nyesom Wike has announced the elevation of nine 2nd-class stools to 1st-class, eight 3rd-class chiefs to 2nd-class.
Wike made the announcement during a “Thank You” meeting held in Abaji Area Council, on Tuesday, where he addressed residents, stakeholders, and traditional leaders.
With the Minister’s pronouncement, the FCT’s 1st-class chiefdoms are; Karu, Jiwa, Garki, Karshi, Aguma (Gwagwalada), Gomo (Kuje), Pai, Sarki Bwari, Esu Kwali, and Ona Abaji previously a sole First -class bringing the total to ten.
While the Second-class chiefdoms include; Gwargwada, Rubochi, Gomani, Wako, Esu Bwari, and Agora of Zuba,
He said the development is expected to significantly reshape the traditional leadership structure across the six Area Councils of the FCT.
Wike also promised to construct the palace of Ona Abaji, asking the council chairman to bring the design.
The Minister assured the people that the long awaited Abuja University of Science will begin operations under the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
He noted that the administration’s responsiveness is a direct result of the community’s loyalty and the effective advocacy of its local leadership.
Wike reechoed the administration’s commitment to keeping to its word, reiterating his personal mantra: “Agreement is agreement.”
He told residents that they should consider the erosion sites and all promised road projects done.
Wike reminded the people that Tinubu remains committed to providing “necessary support” to the council, saying more good things are underway for the people.
