Speaking at the event held in Sa’peyi of Garki palace in Abuja, recently, the Country President, Princess Abigail Amalaha said the initiative is part of the humanitarian mandate of the organisation, to support the less privileged and the needy.

Abigail urged government at all levels to step up efforts towards an enduring food security in the coming year.

She said, “despite the harsh economic situation in the country, we should in our little ways learn to be our brother’s keeper”

In his remarks, the Sa’peyi of Garki, Usman Nga-Kupi, who is also the Chairman Board of Trustees of UTA, commended the organisation for remembering the widows and the less privileged during the festive period.

He noted that the gesture will go a long way in strengthening the faith of the less privileged.

Nga-Kupi prayed that God will replenish the purse of the organisation while wishing them well in all their endeavours in the year 2026.

Some of the beneficiaries expressed their appreciation to UTA for remembering them and prayed that God will be with them in all their activities in the new year and always.

UTA is a United Nations affiliated non-governmental organization founded in 1982 which enjoys consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). With its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, the body is directly involved in diverse activities which include promoting Human Rights, Supporting Sustainable Development Goals, Strengthening Democratic Processes and Providing Humanitarian Aids.

Recall that UTA, an international organisation operating in Nigeria recently signed International Cooperation Agreement with the Federal Government through the Ministry of Budget and National Planning. The agreement opens a new vista in cooperation between the federal government and the organisation.
