NDLEA seizes 6.5 tonnes of illicit drugs in Abuja‎‎

‎The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency says it seized 6,526.203 kilograms of illicit drugs worth about N1.2 billion in the Federal Capital Territory between January and early March 2026.

‎The FCT Strategic Commander of the agency, Julius Dzer, disclosed this during a press briefing in Abuja on Tuesday.

‎He said the seizures included cannabis sativa, cocaine, methamphetamine, tramadol, diazepam, rohypnol and ecstasy, among other substances.

‎Dzer said the command also prosecuted 56 suspected drug offenders, out of which 38 convictions were secured at the Federal High Court within the period under review.

‎He added that six drug-dependent persons were counselled and rehabilitated, while other users arrested were educated on the dangers of drug abuse.

‎The NDLEA official called on residents of the FCT to support the agency’s efforts in tackling drug trafficking and abuse in the capital.

‎He also commended the NDLEA Chairman, Buba Marwa, and the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, for their support.
