Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested three persons with disability (PWDs) for drug trafficking in coordinated operations across Anambra and Kwara states, as the agency also uncovered a massive N5.8 billion stash of illicit drugs in Lagos.
This was disclosed in a statement on Sunday by the agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, who detailed a series of interdictions carried out nationwide.
Among those arrested is 60-year-old Romanus Nwabara, who was apprehended on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Akpaka Forest in Onitsha, Anambra State. He was found in possession of 250 grams of skunk packaged in retail sachets, following intelligence-led tracking by NDLEA operatives.
In a separate operation at Ogbunike, also in Anambra, officers on Thursday, May 7, arrested another PWD, 25-year-old Amos Kenneth, with 160.3 grams of Tramadol (225mg and 100mg), 80 pills of Diazepam, 38.23 grams of Exol-5, and 176.93 grams of skunk.
Similarly, in Kwara State, NDLEA operatives on patrol along Bode Saadu on Friday, May 8, intercepted a commercial vehicle, where a passenger identified as Usman Salisu, also a PWD, was caught with 6.3 kilograms of skunk concealed in a school bag.
In a major breakthrough, operatives of the NDLEA Special Operations Unit raided a mansion at Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, used as a stash house. The raid, conducted on Friday, May 8, led to the recovery of 4,000 parcels of Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, weighing 2,326 kilograms and valued at over N5.8 billion.
Items recovered from the property, located at 36 African Lane, include two Mercedes-Benz buses and various designer packaging materials used for retail distribution of the drugs.
In related operations, 38-year-old Emmanuel Osita Okeke was arrested on Monday, May 4, at Nyanya-Karu, Nasarawa State, with 129 kilograms of skunk. Also, along the Okene/Lokoja highway in Kogi State, NDLEA operatives intercepted a commuter bus heading to Abuja and recovered 766 kilograms of skunk concealed in 76 jumbo bags. Three suspects—Mathew Omohove, Ebuka Desmond, and Babangida Musa—were arrested in connection with the seizure.
Meanwhile, in Lagos, NDLEA officers raided a makeshift skuchies production facility at Ijora Badia on Wednesday, May 6, arresting two suspects, Bose Jamiu and Gbenga Gege. The suspects were caught processing cannabis mixed with other illicit substances. A total of 270 litres of skuchies and 106 grams of Tramadol (225mg) were recovered from the site.
