2027: ADC appoints Imoke, Ahmed to head presidential primary committees

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has appointed former Cross River State governor, Liyel Imoke, and former Kwara State governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, to lead key committees overseeing its presidential primaries ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi on Monday, Imoke will chair the Presidential Screening Committee, while Ahmed will head the Presidential Election Committee.

The Presidential Screening Committee has Hon. C.I.D. Maduabum serving as secretary, with members including Lawal Batagarawa, Bode Ayorinde, Nnena Elendu-Ukeje, David Salifu and Abubakar Ali Ciroma.

The Presidential Election Committee will have Yisa Gana as secretary, alongside members including Adamu Jalingo, Auwalu Anwar, Emenike Ikechi, Macaulay Iyare and others.

The party also constituted a Presidential Appeals Committee chaired by Suleiman Usman, with Ken Imasuagbon serving as secretary and Dare Okerade as member.

For governorship primaries, the ADC announced two screening panels. The first panel is chaired by S.E. Aruwa with Femi Olawuyi as secretary. Members include Lauretta Onochie, Vivian Ugochukwu and others.

The second governorship screening panel is chaired by Justina Abanida, with Chille Igbawua serving as secretary.

The party also approved two governorship appeal committees headed by P.I. Oyewole and M.E. Sheriff respectively.

The ADC said the committees were constituted to ensure transparency, fairness, credibility and internal democracy throughout its primary election process.

“The committees were carefully constituted to ensure transparency, credibility, fairness, and internal democracy throughout the conduct of the party’s primaries,” the statement said.
