Heavy downpour, windstorm render hundreds homeless in Zamfara

No fewer than 500 people were reported to have been homeless following a heavy downpour in Gussu and it’s environs, checks by our correspondent in Zamfara had revealed.
The downpour which lasted for about ninety minutes was also accompanied by strong storm which was believed to be the contributing factor of the destruction.

Our correspondent also gathered that apart from the above mentioned destruction,the Windsor blew a number of houses, shops and other properties  that were trapped in the calamity.

Other destructions made by the disastrous water include destroying many kiosks that were erected along some streets of the town,as well as submerging a number of culvert leading to different areas.

People could be seen preparing some make shift to live, while others resorted to take refugee at various government buildings pending the time they will be able to repair their damaged houses.

Many of the victims who spoke to our reporter in particularly Bungudu, one of affected areas near Gusau, expressed their sadness over what they described as negligence from the side of the government.

According to them, it has just become the fate of the areas that every year they will be ruined by the annual rainfall, which most of the time come with destructive storm.

They said what worries them much is the negligence of the authorities who have never shown any readiness to assisting them.”we have never received a single kobo from anyone in the name of assistance in every occupancy, revealed one, Ibrahim Bala, one of the victims who also was weeping while speaking to our reporter.

At the time of filing in this report, according to the findings of our reporter, many activities, including those of farming have come to a stand still.
