First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, has urged Nigerians to embrace the spirit of charity, kindness and volunteerism, particularly towards vulnerable and less privileged members of society.
Mrs Tinubu made the call in a message to mark the 2026 International Day of Charity, observed on September 5, with a call for collective action to build a more caring and inclusive society.
She said charity went beyond giving, stressing that it involved extending a helping hand, restoring hope and supporting people in need.
“Every act of kindness, no matter how small, can make a meaningful difference in the life of another,” she said.
The First Lady encouraged Nigerians to continue to demonstrate generosity and volunteerism, particularly in support of vulnerable people.
She noted that collective acts of charity could help reduce poverty, strengthen communities and ensure that no one was left behind.
“As the world marks International Day of Charity 2026, we are reminded of the power of kindness, compassion, and generosity in building a more caring and inclusive society,” she said.
She wished Nigerians a happy International Day of Charity.
