Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, has inaugurated the Kano North Senatorial District Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections, charging members and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to close ranks and mobilise for the victory of all the party’s candidates.
Barau, who inaugurated the council in Kano on Tuesday, urged members to embark on an aggressive grassroots mobilisation across the 13 local government areas of Kano North to secure victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, himself as the APC senatorial candidate, Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, and other party candidates.
The Deputy President of the Senate said the campaign council was designed as an all-inclusive platform, with every party stakeholder at the ward, local government and senatorial district levels expected to contribute to the success of the APC in the 2027 elections.
Barau made the call in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, stressing that the party’s success in Kano North had been largely due to its inclusive approach to political mobilisation.
“This is an all-inclusive arrangement. Everybody is involved, and all stakeholders are part and parcel of this council. This has always been our system, and it is one of the reasons we have continued to succeed in Kano North. This election will not be an exception, by God’s grace,” he said.
He charged the campaign council, chaired by the Managing Director of the Hadeja Jama’are River Basin Development Authority and former Secretary to the Kano State Government, Engr. Rabiu Sulaiman Bichi, to galvanise stakeholders and voters across the district.
Barau urged party members to put the outcome of the APC primaries behind them, stressing that the contests for party tickets were over and that all members remained part of the same political family.
He appealed to those who emerged victorious in the primaries to work with aspirants who contested but failed to secure the tickets, saying their collective interest should be the victory of the APC.
“You can see that many of those who contested the primaries but did not secure the tickets are here today. They understand that the party belongs to all of us, and that the victory of the party is ultimately their own victory,” Barau said.
He further directed the council to mobilise for all APC candidates, from the presidential contest down to the State House of Assembly elections, in line with the party’s campaign slogan: “APC, SAK.”
Responding, Bichi assured the Deputy President of the Senate that the council would work tirelessly to mobilise voters and deliver overwhelming votes for the APC across Kano North.
He described Barau as a strong and sellable candidate whose interventions and contributions had left visible footprints across Kano State.
Bichi said the campaign council comprised seasoned politicians and grassroots mobilisers with the experience required to coordinate an effective campaign across the senatorial district.
The inauguration was attended by APC leaders, members of the campaign council and other supporters from the 13 local government areas of Kano North.
