2027: Lokpobiri’s Wife Pushes for Tinubu’s Re-election

By Daniel Tyokua

The wife of the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and National Coordinator of the Tinubu Health Sector Practitioners Alliance (TIHSEPA), Dr. Ogechi Lokpobiri, has called on Nigerians, particularly women and health-sector professionals, to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

She made the call on Friday in Abuja while speaking with journalists on behalf of TIHSEPA, urging Nigerians to remain committed to the administration’s reform agenda, which she described as necessary for repositioning the country and promoting sustainable development.

According to her, the reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration have begun to reshape critical sectors of the economy and could position Nigeria for greater relevance in the global community.

While acknowledging that some of the reforms had created short-term challenges for citizens, Lokpobiri said they should be viewed against the broader objective of addressing longstanding structural problems and laying a stronger foundation for economic growth.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated the courage to take difficult decisions in the interest of the country. While reforms may come with challenges, we must also look at their broader objectives and the opportunities they are creating for a stronger and more sustainable Nigeria,” she said.

Lokpobiri urged Nigerian women to participate actively in the nation’s political and development processes, noting that they had a significant role to play in determining the country’s future.

She called on women across the country to mobilise peacefully in support of government programmes aimed at improving healthcare delivery, strengthening social interventions, empowering families and creating opportunities for citizens.

“Women cannot afford to remain on the sidelines. We have a responsibility to participate actively in the affairs of our country and to support policies and programmes that we believe will advance the wellbeing of our families and communities,” she added.

The TIHSEPA coordinator also commended the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, whom she described as an “Icon of Impact”, for her interventions targeting women, children, vulnerable Nigerians and other segments of society.

She specifically acknowledged the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative and other programmes focused on social welfare, healthcare, education and economic empowerment, saying they complemented the Federal Government’s broader development agenda.

Lokpobiri said the First Lady’s advocacy for women and families underscored the importance of inclusive leadership and greater attention to the welfare of vulnerable Nigerians.

She further said TIHSEPA would continue to provide a platform for health-sector practitioners to contribute to national development and support initiatives aimed at improving Nigeria’s healthcare system.

According to her, the health sector remains central to national development, as a healthy population is essential for productivity, economic growth and improved living standards.

She urged health professionals across the country to remain actively engaged in discussions on healthcare reforms and contribute their expertise towards building a more responsive and accessible healthcare system.

Lokpobiri also appealed to Nigerians to uphold national unity and give the Tinubu administration the opportunity to consolidate its policies and programmes.

She expressed optimism that sustained implementation of the Federal Government’s reform agenda would create greater opportunities for citizens and strengthen Nigeria’s position in the global community.

She reaffirmed TIHSEPA’s commitment to mobilising health-sector practitioners and other stakeholders to support national development, improve healthcare delivery and promote initiatives aimed at advancing the wellbeing of Nigerians.
