Kogi, Nasarawa, Osun owe teachers 79 monthsa�� salaries

The Nigeria Union Teachers (NUT) has said that public primary and secondary school teachers in Osun, Nasarawa and Kogi States are being owed a total of 79 monthsa�� salaries.
The NUT salary debt list which has Osun at the top with 28 months, Nasarawa 26 and Kogi with 25, also has about 10 other states having their teachersa�� salaries unpaid for several months.
NUT President, Comrade Alogba Olukoya, who made this known during a Solemn Assembly on Thursday in Abuja, said that the union would embark on a national strike over the unpaid salaries should the affected states fail to heed to their pleas.
While saying that the union is still collating reports from across the states on the salary issue, Alogba expressed concern over the rot in public schools.
He said: a�?When we get results on salaries, if it is not encouraging, we will embark on a strike, the next is state of decay in our schools, laboratories not functioning and library non-existence.a�?
The NUT boss said apart from Osun, Nasarawa and Kogi States that owed that chunk of teachersa�� salaries, 10 other states were yet to clear their salary arrears.
He listed the states as Benue- 12 months, Ekiti- nine months for primary and five months for secondary schools and Bayelsa with seven and half months for primary and three for secondary schools.
Others are Taraba – six months, Abia -five months, Kaduna a�� five months, Ondo – four months, Kwara and Delta, two months respectively, and Oyo – one month.
