The Kano state Council of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has hailed Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s proactive measures in curbing the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.
The AUTHORITY reports that Kano is yet to record a single case of the deadly virus, as the state government has put everything in place to stop infiltration of the vrius into the ancient commercial city.
According to the Commissioner of Information, Malam Muhammad Garba, the state government has also assured of enough human and material resources to tackle the possible outbreak of the dreaded virus, just as he urged people to strictly adhere to preventive measures, praying that God’s willing, Kano will remain free from the deadly COVID-19, as this moment of trials and torments across the globe end soonest.
In a Statement signed by Kano NLC chairman, Dr. Kabiru Ado Minjibir, and made available to Journalists on Wednesday, “Kano State NLC Council wishes to acknowledge and appreciate the proactive steps so far taken by Kano State Government aimed at tackling the spread of the dreaded COVID-19 in the State.
“The creation and equipping of Isolation Centres is most commendable. So also the stay at home order including civil servants as well as closure of all public schools and other Government institutions.
“We would like to use this medium to appeal to workers and the general public to support and cooperate with Government in this regard. They should abide by directives that may be issued from time to time by Government and health workers in the best interest of their safety and well-being.
“In the same vein, the Congress wishes to call on all stakeholders especially the health practitioners and the media (press) to continue to sensitize the general public professionally and avoid any act(s) that may create confusion and unnecessary panic among the general public.
“Proprietors of private companies and organizations in the State are also hereby advised to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of their workers and customers/clients against the spread of the disease.
“Finally, in this trying times, workers and the general public are advised to observe and respect the rules of personal hygiene and other eating habits, and at the same time remain calm and intensify in prayers for immediate termination of the pandemic.”
