The FCT President of All Nigeria Conference of Secondary Schools ( ANCOPSS) Alhaji Abdulkarim Abdulrahaman has urged government at all levels to provide adequate fund for development at rural areas.
He called on individuals and non governmental organisations to support the government to improve the living condition of rural dwellers.
Abdulrahaman stated this during a coronation ceremony organised by Girinya traditional council, a suburb in Koton Karfe area of Kogi state to honour some distinguished personalities within and outside the area, recently.
The president of ANCOPSS who is also the Dan Iya of Girinya, said that the chiefdom needed funds for utilisation to solve challenges hampering the development.
He told gathering that the era of waiting for only government to provide solution to problems facing communities had gone, even as he mentioned some challenges of the Chiefdom to include lack of market stalls, pipe borne water as well as erosion control measure and government sewage system.
The Dan Iya commended the traditional ruler of Girinya for his determination to develop the area just as he called on stakeholders to continue to partner with the chiefdom with a view to promote socio-economic activities.
Abdulrahaman also cited some achievements recorded in the community to include construction of culvet, opening of layout for 300 housing units, construction of multipurpose hall and stimulation of agricultural activities amongst others.
At the event, Ohinoyi of Girinya, HRH Malam Muhammed Ganaguda Mommoh tasked the chieftancy recipients to double their efforts towards contributing to the development of the area.
The royal father asked the residents of Girinya to remain law abiding citizens as well as to live in peace with one another even as he reminded them on the need to observe Covid-19 protocols at all the time.
