Notorious cultist nabbed for stabbing man in Onitsha

A 20-year old suspected cultist has been arrested for allegedly inflicting serious injuries on one Ebuka Uba of Pope John Paul Street, Awada in Onitsha, Anambra State.

The suspect, Kelechi Ejiofor was said to have carried out the act in collaboration with his gang.

Confirming the incident, the Police spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed said the suspect had been a terror to the residents of the area.

He said, “Police operatives attached to Awada Division while on patrol along Orifite Street, Awada arrested one Kelechi Ejiofor ‘m’ aged 20 years of No 14 Vinalu Street, Awada.

“Suspect has been terrorising the entire Orifite Street axis of Awada. On the 17/12/2019, he mobilized his gang who allegedly attacked and inflicted serious injuries on one Ebuka Uba ‘m’ of Pope John Paul Street, Awada.”

Mohammed also announced the arrest of two persons with one locally made pistol with three rounds of live ammunition.

He said the suspects, Obidinma Chidiebere and Chigozie Anozie, both 27years from Isiala mbano were heading to Nekede in Imo State when they were nabbed.

“Police operatives attached to the Command Federal Highway Patrol while on stop and search at Ozubulu point intercepted two young men behaving in suspicious manner.

“Meanwhile, when search was conducted on the suspects, one locally made pistol with three rounds of live ammunition were recovered from their possession.

The PPRO added that investigation was in progress while efforts were ongoing to apprehend other members of the cult group in order to bring them to justice.
