By Ezeocha Nzeh

Former governor of Zamfara State, Alhaji Abdullaziz Yari, has dismissed as baseless and empty, the allegations of causing more threat to the peace in the state which is currently facilities get serious security challenges

Shinkafi, candidate of the All Progressives governorship in the 2019 general election had on Monday in his petitions to President Mohammadu Buhari and Inspector General of Police ( IGP) Mohammad Adamu, which were copied the Vice President, Service Chiefs, Director of DSS and National Security Adviser, demanded the arrest of Yari over alleged threat to peace in Zamfara State.

He also accused the former governor of arming a violent vigilante group, and calling for public disobedience against the PDP government in Zamfara State, adding that the vigilante group has refused to surrender it’s arms and embrace the peace and reconciliation move initiated by the state government

In the petitions which was also filled along with video evidence, Shikafi raised the alarm.of another possible breach of peace in the state, noting that the state is still reeling over the N2.8 billion paid as ransom by the former governor and over 6,483 widows whose husbands perished during the reign of Yari.

However, Yari in his reaction described the allegations as “empty” vowing to drag Shinkafi, whom he said is a PDP apologist, to court.

The former Zamfara noted that rather than seek his (Yari’s) arrest, the IGP should instead invite and question Alhaji Shinkafi for being in possession of classified document which was meant for the eyes of the Commander- in- Chief and the Service Chiefs only.

Yari who led APC chieftains from Zamfara to the party’s National secretariat to lodge complaints against ongoing intimidation and persecution by the PDP administration in the state declared that only justice can bring peace in.Zamfara state

“The allegations, I can tell you are empty allegations because unfortunately, he called himself a citizen of Zamfara State who contested severally without producing a counsellor, he cannot produce a counsellor. He cannot even be a counsellor, talk less of becoming a governor.

“We are going to take him to court, or instead of the IG to ask for me, he (IGP) is supposed to ask him where he got those classified documents. Those documents are classified documents. I’m of challenging him because I am not the Commander in chief, my role as par section 301,302 of the constitution is very clear on what I am able to do as a governor.

“No governor in Nigeria have overall control of the state because he does not command any troops, he cannot hire of fire any constable. Therefore if he complains that so so number of people died, so so number of houses burnt, who is in charge of security? It is the President because he’s the Commander-in-chief”.

He said the documents was put together to let the President and his service chiefs appreciate what the state was facing at the time but regretted that persons he said lack understanding of what governance entails have disclosed it to the public.
