Corps Member, Ebuka Oguocha sensitizes Community on Proper Child Upbringing

NWIMO LAWRENCE NWIMO writes that a corps member serving in Akwa-Ibom state, Oguocha Chukwuebuka Chukwuma, has reiterated the importance of quality child upbringing by parents.

Oguocha with the state code AK/19B/1631 currently serving at Government Secondary School Afaha Eket, Eket Local Government area of Akwaibom state stated this during an Educational Seminar tagged “BEYOND THE ROOT: The raising of a successful Child.

According to Oguocha, aside the conventional ways, the Seminar tends to educate Parents, Prospective Parents, Teachers on some necessary ingredients needed to raise a successful child, which most are ignorant about.

Speaking at the seminar the Akwaibom state NYSC coordinator, NYSC Akwa Ibom, Mr Julius Amusan described the seminar as a welcomed Idea especially when it is geared towards educating host community on the importance of raising a quality child by putting into consideration, and applying what was learnt.

The state coordinator who was represented by the Eket NYSC Local government inspector, Mr. Oka Okoi, said that one of the goals NYSC is set to achieve is to train youths on the importance of community service and development.

He however admonished youths and other corps members to emulate the good work done by Ebuka Oguocha as well as do everything possible that will positively affect lives of the people, rather than spending their service year in their host community, without making any impact or contribution.

Another Speaker, Dr. Clement Obadimu, while explaining points to be considered in raising children said that the behaviour of a child cannot be used to determine what a child will become while the believe system of the society may stop a child from knowing what he needs to know.

Earlier, the Corps member and author of the book, Ebuka Oguocha said that life has not been a bed of roses for him, adding that he garnered success through strength, determination and his commitments to stand out. He said that life is about strengths and weaknesses and one should strive assiduously to work on his weaknesses and maximize the strengths.

“In the journey of life, there are hurdles to scale through, but it requires strength and focus or commitment to get to that destination.
“I did well to let you know in my writing journey I faced challenges, but instead of being discouraged, I tried to discover my weak points and strengthen them, as I remain focused and determined to get there.”

The seminar was followed by public presentation of his newly published book titled “HAPPY AT LAST” while the young author did not hide the huge inspiration he derived from his mentor, Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu in writing his new book.

His words:”The Idea to write the book, “Happy At Last” was from my Mentor; Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu PhD, publisher of Odogwublog.com, since we shared same desire to promote proper child upbringing.
“I also established a press club in my PPA. The purpose is to inculcate the spirit of news hearing in the students. And for the school to have a medium through which different categories of news and information could be disseminated”.
