Rivers State Deputy Governor Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo has distributed food items and cash to over 500 widows across the 23 Local Government Areas of the State.
In a statement on Thursday, from the Government House Port Harcourt, Dr. Banigo said the gesture is part of deliberate efforts to support the palliative measures put in place by Governor Nyesom Wike to cushion the effect of the Covid 19 stay at home order.
Dr. Banigo who said widows are vulnerable in this period of the COVID-19 pandemic, disclosed that she is working with the Local Government Councils to pay cash directly into the accounts of 20 widows from each Local Government Area, while 50 widows a Christian organization also received various food items.
