BENUE: Group Condems Ushongo Communal Crises

A group under the aigies of Tiv Youth Organisation (TYO), Ushongo Local Government Branch has condemned ongoing land dispute between two families in Utange district which has claimed many lives with property valued in millions alledgedly distroyed.

The AUTHORITY gathered that the dispute is between the families of Iorver Agera and that of Yankyaa Nyishima.

Branch President of TYO in Ushongo Comrade Christian Orduen Aernan, aka Okromam, condemned the act when he led members of the Organisation in company of its National Legal Adviser, Barr. Terna Agerzua on a ‘see it yourself’ mission to the troubled area to access the level of damage and also identify with the victims.

He expressed sadness that the crises were most unfortunate especially that they were coming at period the state was trying very had to cope with the dreaded Coronavirus ravaging the world.

The President while calling for an immidiate halting of hostilities equally charged youth in the area not allow themselves to be used during crises
periords.

He commended the PDP Chairmanship candidate for Ushongo local government , Joseph Asawa and the Member representing Ushongo in the Benue State House of Assembly, Abass Akosu over their prompt response towards ending the crises.

The group which expressed dismay at the attitude of the Caretaker Chairman for Ushongo who it alledged has not shown the desired commitment with regards to the feud called on well meaning Nigerians to come to the aid of the over 3000 displaced persons occasioned by the crises.

The group also commended the Ushongo Traditional Council as well as the Divisional Police officer for Ushongo over their timely intervention and charged security againcues to ensure that perpetrators of the act were brought to justice.
