COVID 19 Palliative: NCFRMI Boss Distributes food Items to IDPs in Dutainma, Safana

The Federal Commissioner, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons Sen. Basheer Garba Mohammed, has distributed a truck loads of food and other household items to the internally displayed persons IDPs in Dutsinma and Safana Local Government of Katsina State.

This was disclosed in a statement signed and made available to newsmen on Saturday in Abuja by the head of press and public relations unit Abdul A. Onu.

Onu said, Mohammed also used the occasion to reiterated President Muhammadu Buhari concern for the welfare of Internally Displaced Persons, especially in this trying period occasioned by the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.

The statement read as follows: “Hon Federal Commissioner, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons Senator Basheer Garba Mohammed, has presented truckloads of food and household items to persons of Concern in Dutsinma and Safana Local Government of Katsina State.

“Performing the ceremony at the Dutsinma Local Government Secretariat, Senator Basheer reiterated the concern of President Muhammadu Buhari for the welfare of Internally Displaced Persons, especially in this trying period occasioned by the outbreak of the coronavirus,” the statement stated.

The materials distributed include; food items such as bags of beans, rice and assorted household items such as cooking materials. Others are drugs, wrappers and other clothing, mats and many others. The items were distributed to the beneficiaries on household basis under the protection of security agents.
He urged the beneficiaries not to sell the items, but use them judiciously for the wellbeing of their families.

Senator Basheer noted with regret that the dreaded coronavirus has penetrated Katsina State and advised the IDPs to always abide by the preventive measures being promoted by government at all levels, emphasizing social distance and hand washing as a welcome practice that the IDPs must learn.

“After the symbolic presentation of the items, the Commissioner practically demonstrated hand washing processes to the admiration of the IDPs and other dignitaries that witnessed the event, even as he encouraged social distancing practice all through the distribution exercise,” the statement noted.
