New Abia CP assumes duty, issues quit notice to criminals

The new Commissioner of Police, deployed to Abia State from the Force Headquarters, Mrs. Janet Agbede, Friday, assumed duty with a vow to make the state unihabitable for criminals.

Agbede, an indigen of Ekiti State was prior to her posting to Abia State, the CP in charge of Social Welfare at the Force headquarters.

Her redeployment to Abia followed the removal of CP Ene Okon over the extra judicial killing of a youth, Mr. Arusi at Ohafia by a police man last Friday.

The killing which police blamed on alcohol sparked a reprisal by irate youths that left five police vans and some public buildings burnt down.

Okon was withdrawn to the Force headquarters.

Addressing newsmen after taking over guard, the new CP vowed to ensure safety of lives and property of residents of the state.

She said her main job was to ensure Abia residents sleep with their two eyes closed.

She declared Abia unsafe for criminals, and warned all criminal -minded elements to steer clear from the state.

Agbede solicited the support and cooperation of members of the public to enable her succeed.

She further assured that with the full cooperation of the officers and men of the command, crime would be reduced to the bearest minimum across the state.
