Covid -19: US – based Abian donates relief materials to kinsmen

Worried by the biting effects of the covid-19 lockdown in the country on the citizenry particularly the vulnerable groups, a United States of America -based Abia business executive , Chief Mrs Doris Ogunmakin, has donated relief materials worth millions of Naira to her Amuzukwu Ibeku Umuahia kinsmen.

Handing over the items to the leaders of Amuzukwu community on Sunday, father of the donor, Chief Uche Akwukwuegbu popularly known as Bawas, said the gesture was in support of the efforts of government to cushion the effects of the lockdown on the people.

Akwukwuegbu who doubles as the National Chairman of Traditional Prime Ministers Association of Nigeria, and the Taditionl Prime Minister of Ibeku ancient kingdom, noted with pity, the plights of the common men following the current lockdown aimed at containing the spread of coronavirus.

He commended the efforts of government in mitigating the plights of the people especially the vulnerable and urged government to do more.

The Traditional Prime Minister also called on the wealthy not to close their eyes against the poor at this trying moment.

Akwukwuegbu expressed delight that his daughter had taken after his philanthropic nature, thanked her for the gesture, and urged her to keep it up.

Responding on behalf of the community, the Traditional ruler HRH, Eze John Ibezim, appreciated the donor for her kind gestures and showered blessings on her.
