SOSG to partner NUJ on government activities

Sokoto state head of civil service Alhaji Sani Garba Shuni has pledged to walk closely with journalists with a view to enhance propagation of state Government activities.

The head of service was speaking during a courtesy visit paid to him by the state executive council of the Union led by the chairman comrade Isa Abubakar .

He said members of the NUJ have a vital role to play in selling the activities of government to the outside world especially in the post corona virus pandemic.

He stated that Sokoto state government is one of the very few States that pays salary as at when due to it’s civil servants,

According to him recently the state government approved payment of gratuity to retired civil servants in the state , the gesture he said would improved the quality of their lives after retirement.

The head of service however appealed to civil servants to reciprocate state r efforts through dedication to duty .

He said civil servants are backbone of any administration, as such his office would do everything possible to improve their condition of service.

” Sokoto state government under the leadership of Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has in it’s magnanimity sold houses to civil servants on owner occupier bases a method that will make an ordinary civil servants to own a house of his own” the head of service averred.

Responding the NUJ chairman Isah Abubakar congratulated the head of service for his new appointment.

He said members of the Union would anything possible to support him in quest to improve the present standard of the civil service in sokoto state.

He said the recent approval for payment of gratuity to retired civil servants in the state is highly commendable.

He said despite the present covid – 19 pandemic the path of the civil service in sokoto state has not derailed.

The chairman further appealed to the new head of service to see to the increase in the allowances of working journalists in the state government media houses.

He said the measure would definitely improved their outputs in their areas of responsibilities and increased quality of their balanced news reportage.

He however wish the new head of service success in the discharge of his official responsibilities.
