  • Ndiya Street/ Akpan Andem Drainage Project Nears Completion

The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, has since assumption of office walk the talk in the area of infrastructural maintenance and advancement, having flagged-off the construction of Ndiya Street, Drainage and Solar Lighting Projects in Akpan Andem Market, situated within Uyo metropolis.

This is in line with the Governor’s ARISE Agenda blueprint which has infrastructural maintenance/ advancement, entrepreneurial and economic development as part of its focal points, as well as his promise to the market women during his electioneering campaign.

The Ndiya Market project which is handled by an indigenous construction firm, HENSEK Integrated Services is almost completed and will help bring to life His Excellency’s desire to turn the state into an entrepreneurial hub and will incorporate the following:

i) The road project will greatly improve accessibility to the market and make commuting easier for sellers and buyers, ultimately boosting economic activities in the market.

ii) Construction of flood control drainage system that will facilitate effective management of drainage issues within the market, preventing flooding during the rainy season which often disrupt business activities.

iii) Installation of solar lighting to ensure the safety and security of the market and traders who hitherto were vulnerable to incidents of theft and harassment. This will significantly reduce the risk of criminal activities and foster a sense of security for both the sellers and customers.

iv) Construction of toilets, which come with steady running water and is expected to provide decent enclosure for traders and promote hygiene and cleanliness.

With infrastructural maintenance and advancement, economic development as focal points of his ARISE Agenda and his visionary leadership trail, Governor Umo Eno is on a path towards transforming Akwa Ibom State into a thriving economic hub with improved infrastructure and a higher quality of life for its citizens.
