Ganduje wades in to stop Ondo Deputy Gov’s impeachment

National chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Umar Ganduje has directed the party members in Ondo State to cease the impeachment moves against the State Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

Ganduje revealed this on Friday in Abuja while inaugurating a nine-member committee mandated to reconcile Aiyedatiwa with Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

The committee is headed by former Speaker of he House of Representatives, Aminu Masari, and the national chairman expressed optimism that the members of the committee with vast experience in public service would accomplish the task at hand.

Ganduje stressed the need to ensure a smooth working relationship between the Governor and his Deputy, and gave members of the committee one week to turn in their recommendations.

Masari assured the chairman that the committee’s intervention would resolve the issue amicably and satisfactorily.

The committee’s terms of reference are: “To interface and engage with all contending partner(s) with a view to gathering facts and circumstances surrounding the lingering impeachment process of the deputy governor.

“To advise the party on the most amicable ways of handling the lingering issues leading to the impeachment process of the deputy governor.

“To make necessary recommendations to the party on resolution of issues and any other matter that may come up in the course of the assignment.”

Other members of the committee includes the minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, Senator Jack Tilley Gyado, Senator Ita Giwa, Obafemi Hamzat, Martins Elechi, Tokunbo Abiru, Mohammed Abubakar and Liman Abbas, as Secretary.
