2027: Nasarawa governor Sule endorses Wadada as preferred successor

By Myke Uzendu, Abuja

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has announced Senator Aliyu Wadada as his preferred governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Sule made the declaration during a meeting with political appointees at the Government House in Lafia on Thursday, signaling an early move to shape the party’s succession plan ahead of the next governorship election.

You may recall that Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun had on Monday, publicly endorsed Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, as his preferred successor.

According to governor Sule, Wadada possesses the experience and leadership qualities required to sustain the administration’s development agenda in the state.

“After careful consideration, I have identified Senator Aliyu Wadada as a credible and capable individual who can continue the good work we have started,” Sule said.

He urged party stakeholders and supporters to rally behind the senator, stressing the need for unity within the APC to ensure electoral success.

“We must remain united as a party. Our strength lies in our cohesion and our shared commitment to progress,” he added.

Wadada, who currently represents Nasarawa West Senatorial District, is considered a prominent figure within the APC in the state and has played key roles in legislative and party activities.

Political observers say the endorsement may significantly influence the dynamics of the APC primaries in Nasarawa, where several aspirants are expected to jostle for the party’s ticket.

While the senator is yet to formally declare his intention to run, sources within the party indicate that consultations are ongoing.
