Zamfara Govt To Ex-Gov Yari: Refund N37bn or we meet in court

The Zamfara State Government has threatened to drag to court, former governor of the State, Alhaji Abdul Aziz Yari, should he fail to refund 37 billion naira meant for the State during the previous administration.

It also called on the international community to assist it recover the said fund.

This was disclosed by the Commissioner of Finance of the State, Alhaji Rabiu Garba while addressing journalists in his office in Gusau, the State capital.

According to him, it came to the knowledge of the government of the State that the money was not included in the handing over note.

Alhaji Garba also said the amount in question was an outstanding in respect of the Federal roads constructed by the past government under Yari which was diverted going by their findings and the letter they wrote to the authority responsible for such payment.

He further revealed that in the process of getting the money back to the coffers of the government, it was also understood that over thirty billion naira was withdrawn on the order of the former governor through the use of two official of the Nigeria Governor’s Forum when he was it’s chairman.
