KEDCO laments increasing activities of vandals

The Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has raised the alarm over increasing activities of vandals in its franchise areas, just as it commended community for preventing vandalism.

According to a Statement by KEDCO’s Head of Corporate Communications, Ibrahim Sani Shawai, “the Management said it has been observed that KEDCO’s transformers and other installations have been destroyed by vandals in recent times and this has put many communities in darkness.
” The impact of vandalism is something that affects both KEDCO and our numerous customers while causing economic losses of grave magnitude in some cases.

“Some communities have shown great concern by supporting KEDCO in protecting installations and preventing any attempts to sabotage our installations while some communities have not been very helpful.
“Recently, Danbare Community of Kumbotso LGA of Kano State have succeeded in chasing away vandals and detained their vehicle when they came to vandalize their transformer recently. The case is now under security investigation Their action is highly commendable, we urge other communities to emulate Danbare communities.

“We like to assure our customers that our Monitoring Unit has been given matching orders to embark on surveillance and anyone caught will be prosecuted in line with the laws of the land.

“We are appealing to members of the public to stand up against vandalism by supporting KEDCO to protect the organisation while safeguarding its installations to ensure that customers get value for their money.”
