A women coalition, Mothers for United Nigeria (MUN), has condoled the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. LEO Irabor and the entire Armed Forces of Nigeria on the recent plane crash.
The Chief of Army staff Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru and 10 other officers were killed in the plane crash on Friday in Kaduna.
In a press release on Monday, MUN’s Publicity Secretary, Hajia Salamatu Adebayo, lamented the loss sustained by the AFN in the crash.
She said the crash came at a time the AFN is engaged in making efforts to bring peace to volatile areas of the country.
The group prayed God to comfort the families of those killed in the crash.
She said: “We are at pains over the death of the Chief of Army staff Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru and 10 others. Mothers across the country are grieved over their sudden death.
“We use this opportunity to condole with the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen LEO Irabor, the entire Armed Forces of Nigeria and bereaved families.
“The death of the COAS and his entourage came at a time the Armed Forces of Nigeria is stridently tackling the security challenges in the country.
“The COAS and his team died serving the country. The sacrifices of the AFN in stabilizing the country is innumerable and this is one of them.
“Everytime unfortunate incidents like this occur, widows are produced, families are put in pains and the military is affected.
“We use this medium to appeal to those with criminal tendencies to lay down arms and give peace a chance. We also appeal to nigerians irrespective of orientation to support the AFN.”
