AE-FUNAI warns against campus prostitution, cultism

The Vice Chancellor, Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ikwo (AE- FUNAI), Thursday, warned newly admitted students that the institution does not tolerate any form of cultism, campus prostitution, exam malpractice, money-for marks and other social vices.

The VC, Prof Sunday Elom, issued the warning at the 9th matriculation ceremony of the Institution.

He said the university matriculated 4,715 students for the 2020/2021, and that out of the number, 2,191 are males while 2, 524 are females. 

Prof. Elom advised the matriculants to shun anything that can deter them from  reaching their goals.

The VC said the university would not hesitate to rusticate or expel any student found culpable of any social vices, even as he warned them to beware of campus life attractions

He urged the students to report any form of sexual abuse, intimidation and extortion from staff to the relevant authorities and assured the student of disciplinary actions against any staff that is found to be intimidating or harassing any student sexually.

The Vice Chancellor mentioned some of the challenges facing the institution to include, accommodation problem, lack of banking facility, inadequate lecture halls, heightened insecurity due to the ongoing communal conflict between our host community – Ikwo and Izzi. 

He assured the students that despite these challenges, the University remains committed to students’ welfare and would continue to improve the conditions in the hostels and the entire campus.
