In a renewed push to promote transparency and stronger collaboration with stakeholders, the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has announced it will host a National Townhall Meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.
The engagement, to be chaired by the Chairman of TETFund’s Board of Trustees, Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, will take place at the A-Class Park and Event Centre in Wuse II, Abuja.
According to a statement issued by the Special Assistant to the Chairman, Dr. Mansur D. Liman, the forum is designed to encourage open dialogue between TETFund and stakeholders in the education sector, while showcasing the Fund’s milestones and its impact on tertiary education across the country.
Masari noted that the townhall is part of TETFund’s ongoing drive to deepen accountability and enhance public understanding of its role.
“This Townhall Meeting will serve as an important platform to bridge the gap between TETFund and the Nigerian public, ensuring that our mandate and interventions are better understood and appreciated nationwide,” he said.
The event will feature keynote presentations by two renowned education experts. Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, former Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), will speak on “TETFund in the Eyes of the Public.” Prof. Umaru Pate, Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Kashere, Gombe State, will present a paper on “Tertiary Education in Nigeria and the Relevance of TETFund.”
Expected participants include policymakers, academics, civil society representatives, students, and members of the public. The interactive sessions will provide opportunities for direct engagement with TETFund’s leadership, as attendees share insights and recommendations for improving the Fund’s initiatives.
“The Townhall Meeting is part of TETFund’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and stakeholder engagement. It is designed to:• Explain the mandate of TETFund to Nigerians.• Highlight its achievements and impact on tertiary education since establishment.• Provide a platform for dialogue between TETFund, stakeholders, and the public,” the statement said.
The event aligns with TETFund’s broader mission to ensure openness and inclusiveness in managing resources dedicated to infrastructure, research, and innovation within Nigeria’s tertiary institutions.
The statement also urged education stakeholders and interested members of the public to participate in the forum.
