By Ada Okafor

The Lagos State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mr. Eddy Megwa, has appealed to Nigerians to support the scheme’s Management to get the nod of the federal government for the establishment of the NYSC Trust Fund that is presently before the National Assembly. He made the appeal during a courtesy call on the General Manager of the National Theatre, Prof. Sunday Ododo, in his office on Thursday.
Mr. Megwa said the Trust Fund, if signed into law, will in no small way help the scheme to take care of the large number of prospective  corps members that are mobilised for national service yearly.
He further used the visit to call on the Management of the  National Theatre to join the vanguard and support the noble objectives of the scheme in the state. The Coordinator commended the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo Olu, for his assistance to the scheme by creating conducive work environment to the large number of corps members in the state. He particularly appreciated the Governor for his gesture of constructing an ultra modern 14,000  capacity Orientation Camp for Corps members deployed for Orientation and to serve in the state.
Responding, the General Manager, National Theatre, Prof. Ododo, commended the NYSC boss whom he described as a friend, brother and professional colleague for the visit that is vital to both organisations. Prof. Ododo who incidentally graduated from the same department of Performing Arts with  the NYSC Lagos Coordinator  at the university of Ilorin, Kwara State, said his organisation is ready to partner with the NYSC in Lagos especially in building up the NYSC Lagos cultural troop. Prof. Ododo while reminiscing, said NYSC  actually brought out the creativity in him way back in the old Gongola State and described the Scheme as a noble one.
