Accolades as Commander Bello Transforms No 9 PMF Squadron Hotoro

On March 9, 2022, community policing partners, business men, traditional rulers, opinion leaders and police chiefs gathered at No 9 PMF Squadron, Hotoro, Kano to celebrate Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr. Shuaibu Bello for his transformational strides at the place. He was praised and encouraged for using community policing strategy to give the No 9 PMF Squadron the desired face-lift, as well as instilling discipline and the spirit of hard work, dedication to duty to officers and men serving under him.


Speaking during the event, ACP Bello recalled that, “upon assumption to office, I discovered that most of the operational vehicles are unserviceable and grounded due to logistic problems. This was a big challenge to me as operations cannot be possible without adequate and effective logistic. In view of the above, I have to think out of box and key in the principle and practice of community policing which is emphasized by the present

administration of the Nigeria Police Force, and therefore, engaged the squadron community policing partners to reduce the challenges.”


ACP Bello further stated that, “sequel to the engagement of the community policing partners and after having appreciated my effort in the speed in which I activated some unserviceable vehicles, equipment and general renovation of the squadron, I am glad to inform you that the chairman Tripple K. Investment Limited, Alhaji Najib Ja’afar Koguna promised to donate two lorry vehicles to the squadron. Today, his promise became reality and the two vehicles worth N22 million each are here for prresention and commissioning.


“Equally, I would like to acknowledge and appreciate the effort of the Managing Director of KAROTA, Hon. Baffa Dan’Agundi who voluntarily carried out the general repairs and overhauling of Kraz Troop Carrier vehicle which was unserviceable for over 13 years. Also, I acknowledge and appreciated the effort of His Highness, Oba of Yoruba in Kano, Engr. Oba Murtala Alimi Otisese who provided the Squadron with 20 KVA generating set for the administrative work and pumping of portable drinking water to the barracks community.”


ACP Bello also expressed appreciation to Special Adivser to Governor Umar Abdullahi Ganduje in Security Matters,  Ambassador Murktar Gashash; the Managing Director of GEREWA Oil Mills LTD, Hadejia Road; the Managing Director of Triacta Construction Company, North-West Office, Kano; the Regional Manager Olam Nigeria, Mr. Idris Fadile; the Managing Director, PAL Pharmaceutical LTD, Kano, Pharm. Ogbuji Eugene Ugonna; Dr. Sharif Rabi’u (Ahlan), Chairman, Kano state Foitballl Association and member, Nigeria Football Federation; the Managing Director, Great Man Joe Paint Ventures; Alhaji Kamilu Musa, Managing Director, Wayakam Loc and paints; and Alhaji Auwal Idris, for their support and assistance to No. 9 PMF, Kano.


In his address, the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba (psc, NPM, fdc) who was ably represented by the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone one, Kano, Sadiq Abubakar Bello (psc) commended ACP Bello for his giant strides in his place of duty.
IGP Usman Baba noted that, “the donation of these new vehicles would no doubt enhance the operational capacity of the squadron ther by making movement of men in response to incidents easier and faster.

Apart from augumenting the operational assets of the squadron as well as reducing problems of logistics, this gesture will go a long way in fostering police community relations which is one of the cardinal policing initiative of the present administration. It is therefore, my humble belief that the people of Kano state would soon witness improvement in the quality of police service to the state.”


He urged officers and men of the Squadron to be more committed to their duties, ensure maintenance of the vehicle, respect and protect the right of Nigerians in the discharge of their duties in line with international best practices.


The chairman of the occasion: AIG Bashir A. Albasu (rtd) who is the  District Head of Albasu Local Government Area praised ACP Bello who happened to be his student while he was the Commandant of Police College, Wudil, Kano, for giving the squadron a face-lift. The former police boss also recommended that ACP Bello be rewarded for his his hard work and commitment to duty through immediate promotion.

AIG Albasu who is also the Chairman, Kano State Community Policing Committee,  described ACP Shuaibu Bello as a hard-working and elegant police officer and Congratulated him for his service to the Nigeria police force and  humanity. According to him, the Squadron  barrack has been reformed and transformed under ACP Bello so much that  it does not look like a typical Nigerian police barrack.


In his remarks, Father of the Day, the District Head of Fagge, Alhaji Mahmoud Ado Bayero described Commander Bello as a very creative,  active and operational officer right from when he was DPO of Sabon Gari. He urged people to contribute to the development of police and support police officers through Community Policing initiative. The traditional rulers also asked people to give police useful information on whereabouts of criminals and criminal activities.


In his brief remarks, the chairman of Tripple K. Investment Limited, Alhaji Najib Ja’afar Koguna who donated two lorry vehicles to the squadron promised continued support to the squadron. He also commended ACP Bello for displaying uncommon leadership qualities which is leaving positive impacts on the squadron. The business mogul also promised to donate two lorry vehicles to Kano state police and command and another two to the Zone one headquarters.
