FG commiserates with Zambia over ex- President

The Federal Government of Nigeria has commiserated with the family, Government, and people of the Republic of Zambia over the demise of its former President, Mr. Rupiah Banda.

Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Francisca Omayuli, in a statement on Wednesday said that the tragic incident occurred on Friday, 11th March 2022.

She said that the former President will be remembered as a great diplomat who played a leading role in the fight against apartheid and decolonization of Southern Africa.

According to the statement, “The Federal Government of Nigeria wishes to extend sincere condolences to the family, the Government and people of the Republic of Zambia on the demise of H.E. Rupiah Banda, the fourth President of the Republic of Zambia, on Friday, 11th March 2022.

“The late President was a Pan Africanist and elder statesman. He will be remembered as a great diplomat who played a leading role in the fight against apartheid and decolonization of Southern Africa”.

Noting that Africa has lost a great and gallant son, Federal Government prayed God to rest his soul.
