Why Uba, Ukachukwu will remain suspended from PDP, chairman explains

From Isaac Ojo and Ifeoma Ejiofor, Awka

The acting chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Anambra State chapter, Comrade Okechukwu Asolo says Chiefs Chris Uba, Linus Ukachukwu and others were suspended from the party by the disciplinary committee of the party because of their anti-party activities and indiscipline.

The PDP chairman made the explanation while fielding questions from newsmen at the Udoka Housing Estate Awka Secretariat of the party.

Comrade Asolo said as a matter of fact that PDP is a very big political party that has functional constitution which according to him is supreme and as well has disciplinary measures for erring members.

He said that Chiefs Chris Uba, Linus Ukachukwu were suspended from the party by the disciplinary committee of the party because they went against the constitution of the party.

“Their current crime against the party is that as stakeholders of the party who participated actively at the ward congress ratified by the committee set up by the National Working Committee headed by His Excellency, Gov Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, the committee in their wisdom ratified the local government area congress of 9 council areas and ordered a repeat of 12 LGAs.

“These individuals went to court to challenge the decision of the National Working Committee and brought in persons who are not even members of PDP to institute a case against the party, that is why they were suspended by the disciplinary committee.” Comrade Asolo explained.

Asked to comment on the preparedness of PDP in the state for party primary of the elective positions that will soon hold across the country ahead the 2023 general elections, Comrade Asolo assured the party faithful of the commitment of the party leadership to conduct a free, fair and most credible primary which everyone would be proud of.

He however appealed for unity among the party members noting that the interest of PDP should be paramount to any other individualistic interests.

Meanwhile, some of the aspirants who obtained expression of interest and nomination forms from the party have started submitting their filled forms at the party Secretariat and in the process made the Udoka Housing Estate Awka PDP office to be a behive of activities.
