..Visits Akran of Badagry

From Cyriacus Nnaji, Lagos

In what is an unprecedented move, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, on Wednesday, attended the LASU Foundation (JUPEB) Orientation Programme, where she charged the learners on discipline,  hardwork and academic excellence. It is the first time a sitting Vice Chancellor would be attending the programme.

In her speech, not long after she had been treated to a rousing welcome by members of staff and students of the LASU Foundation (JUPEB) Programme headed by Prof. Yinus Adeleke Dauda, the professor of Physiology congratulated the students on their admission into the one year programme and urged them to pursue academic excellence by working hard at their studies assuring that their admission into the university would be guaranteed on the condition that they meet all necessary requirements.

She also cautioned the students on the university’s zero tolerance for indiscipline and the need for them to behave decently within and outside the campus while resisting the urge to partake in unwholesome acts that are capable of terminating their studentship untimely.

While assuring that her administration is determined to give the students a conducive learning atmosphere to bring out the best in them, Prof. Olatunji-Bello listed the purchase and installation of 40 KVA Generator,

appointment of substantive director, rehabilitation of water system at the hostel, overhauling of electricals at the hostels and capacity building for the tutors as some of the interventions put in place by her administration within the last six months.

Her speech paved the way for a slew of lectures to prepare the learners for the task ahead.

The Vice Chancellor, thereafter, paid a courtesy visit to the paramount ruler of Badagry Kingdom, De Wheno Aholu Menu Toyi 1, OFR, the Akran of Badagry.

In a show of gratitude, she appreciated the Octogenarian for his support for her and for the LASU Foundation Programme in the Badagry Kingdom even as the traditional ruler, whose 45 years anniversary on the throne coincidentally commenced same day, prayed for her success.

The Vice Chancellor was accompanied on the visit by senior members of her administration.
