PDP youth group launches ‘Operation Rescue Nigeria’

The PDP New Generation has launched “Operation Rescue Nigeria “, to salvage Nigeria from the lingering challenges it has faced under the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The PDP youth group said it deemed it fit to address the nation after an exhaustive scrutiny of all the issues relating to the economy, health, unemployment, corruption, insecurity of lives, property and other incessant unruly affairs in the country and the APC’s inability to live up to its campaign promises.

The Director General of the PDP New Generation, Audu Mahmood addressing a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, stated that In may 2015, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) handed over to the APC a Nigeria with the largest economy in Africa and 26th globally. But, years later, according to the World Poverty Clock (WPC), Nigeria surpassed India and became the world’s poverty capital, with around 87 million people living in extreme poverty.

Mahmood therefore called on Nigerians, especially youth and women to join the PDP and rescue Nigeria from the collapse, adding that a vote for PDP, against the APC is patriotism for Nigeria.

He said, “In 2021, The Economist’ reported that since APC assumed office, Nigeria’s insecurity deteriorated. It is therefore apt to describe the situation in our country today as sheer disaster. The issue of insecurity has reached a point where the current strategies adopted by this administration have failed and are inadequate to guarantee safety for all Nigerians. Few weeks ago, within an interval of days, Nigeria reached the crescendo of it all – when bandits attacked Kaduna Airport, bombed an Abuja-Kaduna train, and killed over 100 innocent citizens in Plateau state. This was a National disaster that warranted the APC led government to at least address the nation with an assurance, but due to their lack of empathy toward Nigerians nothing was done. In a report released by SBM intelligence, a socioeconomic research firm, it stated that as a result of insecurity, 10,366 innocent Nigerians were killed in 2021.

“Since after the Civil war, the unity of Nigeria has never been threatened as it is now. The country is now divided along religious and ethnic lines. According to some, Nigeria is sitting on a time bomb. But despite the bad governance, our prayer and belief is that Nigeria will continue to be strong and united.

“PDP left behind an economy with a stable currency, where the Naira exchanged from N199 to $1, and Nigeria had a single-digit inflation rate. Today, the current administration is headlining an inflation rate above 15%, with an exchange rate of N570 to $1. A bag of cement which was sold at N1,200 per bag in 2015, is N4,200 per bag. A crate of egg in 2015 was N600, under the APC administration, it is now N2,300. A 50kg bag of Rice was N7,500, but today it is N28,000. The question that begs for answer whether the income of the common man has increased to be able to keep up with the increasing hike?

“According to the Debt Management Office (DMO), Nigeria’s debt profile as of June 2015 was N12.12 trillion. The debt profile is now about N33.3 Trillion.

“The PDP New Generation is hereby calling on all meaningful young men and women, to join the People’s Democratic Party, because as it stands today, PDP is the most reliable, united, well structured, and better organized political party that can rescue Nigeria from the hands of the current situation. We are also calling on all registered young members of the PDP and by extension Nigerians, to join the political process of our great party, in order to deliver the change we all seek.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, distinguished members of the press, we want to also officially notify you that the PDP New Generation has today launched a campaign tagged “OPERATION RESCUE NIGERIA” to embark on a nationwide mobilization of Nigerian Youths for active political participation and inclusiveness at all levels, especially in the PDP.”

He further adviced the current administration to get ready to go back home come May 2023 as the PDP has come to end the ongoing terror on Nigerians.

“In May 29, 2023 every member of this government should join President Muhammadu Buhari and return to their respective villages. You all have done enough damage to our today, and the future, please go and let Nigeria be again.

“At this end, permit me categorically say that every Nigerian deserves a Certificate of Survival for the hardship caused by APC, ” he added.
