AMAC chairman asks residents to protect public facilities

By Daniel Tyokua

The Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) Hon Abdullahi Adamu Candido has called on the residents to always protect and guide public facilities in their domains to avoid vandalisation.

He stated this on Thursday during the foundation laying ceremony for the building of Sarkin Idris Community Market in Jiwa community of the area council.

Candido explained that if the communities protect facilities in their area, such projects would be in a better position to serve them well and improve their lives.
The chairman who described the market as a purely community market, urged the youth in the area to take advantage of the market to earn a living and avoid  loitering.

He said: “This is purely a community market. What it means is that the market belongs to Jiwa community and it’s environs.

“So, you must protect what belongs to you. You must protect the facility for yourselves, because it is going to serve you, and the purpose it was established.”He said.

In his remarks, the Chief of Jiwa community, Alhaji Idris Musa thanked the AMAC chairman for the project, even as he promised that the community would continue to protect public facilities in the area.
