2023: Zamfara communities pay homage to Yari over reconciliation with Gov Mattawallen

From Salisu Zakari Maradun Gusau

Thousands of prominent personalities, particularly politicians have continued to troop into the residence of the former governor of Zamfara state, Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari to pay their allegiance after the former gave his nod to the incumbent to reconcile their political differences. It could be recalled that the duo have not been in good term since  following the refusal of the incumbent governor Bello Matawallen Maradun to recognize Yari and his teeming supporters as political pillars of the state.

Prominently among the people visited were among others, elders of the state, various groups of youth as well as women and business tycoons. Yari who is now being described as the political hero of the state had before now stood against the leadership of Matawallen Maradun and promised to ensure he change the leadership at the  elections.

There were series of meetings aimed at reconciling the two leaders in the past, but all to no avail as the sitting governor refused to accept some conditions in the process and eventually, the two and their supporters fell apart.

The Authority gathered that recently, when it dawned on the governor that he may lose election  if he did not reconcile with former governor, he resorted to appealing to him in collaboration with some respectable elders within and outside the state to call for peace and understanding including the presidency to intervene in addressing the lingering political problem.

Following the reconciliation therefore, the residence of the former governor in Talata Mafara has turned into what some people described as government house as no fewer than 500 people troop into it on a daily basis to pay their allegiance and register their support to Yari, who many said the state would have fallen into another calamity had yari refused to give his nod to the move. Our reporter reliably gathered that from the day it was made public that lingering political problem between the two has been successfully resolved, Talata Mafara, the home town of the former governor, became like the seat of power of the state.
