Crisis hits AMAC/Bwari Federal constituency APC primary election

Crisis has engulfed the AMAC / Bwari Federal Constituency APC primary election over alleged altered delegates list by the national body of the party.

The aspirants who were visibly angry over the list sent from the APC national headquarters, have since withdrawn from the primary and vowed to dump the party for a new one.

Recall that the APC primary election to select a candidate for AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency was supposed to be held on Friday, May 27, 2022 but due to the unending crisis at the package B, Abuja National Stadium, venue for the primary, it was shifted to the next day.

Fielding questions from Journalists at the venue, the chairman electoral committee, Sunny Sylvester Moniedefa said he was sent with the list from the national headquarters.

“I am sent from the national headquarters to conduct the election, I don’t know anything about the list it was handed over to me, because of this the election will no longer hold today” he said. 

According to the aspirants, Solomon Ayuba, Abdullahi Adamu Candido, Lazarus Gaza, Fatimah Mark and others, the delegates list was fake.

Addressing journalists on behalf of others during the development, the Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) and an aspirant for AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives for the 2023 election, Hon Abdullahi Adamu Candido, said he was not going to participate in the exercise. 

He announced his withdrawal from the race, blaming irregularities in the electoral process for his decision.

The aspirants through Candido explained that the process in the conduct of the primary election for the office, by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last days have showcased that he would no longer engage himself in further contest, because of the way the process is being handled.

The AMAC chairman stated that the process of electing candidate to represent AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency in the coming election does not allow for free and fair contest.

He noted that none of the aspirants for AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency into the House of Representatives was consulted or even invited for a , nor took part in the primary election, conducted by the election committee, before results were announced.

He continued: “I have noticed that things are not going the way it should be. So, I have decided to withdraw from the race in the interest of the party and for the interest of my populace, and for peace to reign.

“As far as I am concerned, Abdullahi Adamu Candido is the target for molestation, he is the target for humiliation, and he is the target for ensuring that he does not become a candidate for this election.

“And I do not have any regret, because I am not opting out of the political space, because I will continue to do the best for my people”
