Alleged blasphemy: Mob kills vigilance man in FCT

By Daniel Tyokua

A mob on Saturday killed a member of a vigilance group for allegedly making a blasphemous statement at Lugbe in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Feelers in the area who don’t want their names mentioned, told The AUTHORITY
that trouble started when members of the vigilance group guarding the Timber shed market at the Federal Housing Authority Estate, Lugbe had wanted to arrest some residents wandering around the market in the wee hours of Saturday.

The residents were said to have begged the vigilance group to free them in the name of Allah but one of the vigilantes kicked and made comments reported to be blasphemous.

A trader in the market who spoke in confidence said the vigilante was beaten and stoned before he was set ablaze.

There was no official response from the police as at the time of writing this report.

End.
