Market building collapse: Ebonyi govt approves N18million for victims

Ebonyi State government has approved the sum of N18 million for the victims of Ekaja market building collapse.

A building had on May 13, collapsed in Ekaja Market Uburu, Ohaozara local government area of Ebonyi State, and three persons were reportedly killed in the process. 

The shops as gathered collapsed during a downpour.

The state executive council on Thursday, during the exco meeting approved the sum of N18 million for the deceased family and other victims of the ugly incident.

Briefing journalists after the exco, the commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Barrister Uchenna Orji stated, “Exco received a memo from the Principal Secretary for financial assistance to those who were affected by the building collapse on the 13th of May, 2022 at Ekaja Market in Uburu in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

“EXCO noted the conditions of the affected persons and approved the total sum of Eighteen Million Naira (N18,000,000.00) for all the victims and other affected persons in the building collapse incident.
