Group ignites OBI/DATTI sensitization in Enugu with free medicare.

Hundreds of rural dwellers of Iheaka, a serene community in Igboeze South local government area of Enugu state on Sunday, October 2, were treated to free medicare, Including free eye texts and drugs sponsored and organised by Dr. Felix Ugwu, director of a Socio Political Pressure group known as ‘Enugu State Professbnals for Obi and Datti(ESPOD).

The initiative which was described as the first of it’s kind by any political party or it’s sympathisers was held within the premises of Holy Trinity primary/Secondary School, Iheaka, was administered by a Medical team led by Dr Ogbodo,from University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital(UNTH), Ituku
Ozalla, Enugu. The rural dwellers were given drugs free and prescriptions to purchase some of the drugs that were not with their medical team.
Likewise, Eye specialists contracted by ESPOD from Eunike Eye Clinic Nsukka, conducted free eye examination on most of the rural dwellers who trouped to the school and most of them thereafter received a bottle of eye drop free. Whereas, those whose eye problems were observed by the team to be severe, were directed where they will get better treatment.
A native, Mr Gabriel Ugwu, after under going eye examination, told newsmen that the largesse is unique in the community. He said No politician or pressure group forstering the electioneering chances of his or her prefered candidate, has offered free medicare to their rural dwellers.
He assured that his community will surely reciprocate the gesture during the 2023 General election.

One of the Labour Party Stakeholders in the community, MR vitus Nnama, described Peter Obi, as a President who will consider primary health care of every Nigerian as one of the most priority projects of his administration.

He mentioned that same Peter Obi, even when he has stopped as governor of Anambra state, based on his passion for life and humanity, donated the sum one hundred million naira for maintenance and upgrading of BIshop Shanahan hospital Nsukka.

The Convener, DR Felix Ugwu, said the initiative wss born out of ESPOD desire for improved health for every Nigerian, especially for those living in the rural communities who are often neglected and forgotten by the government.

He expressed optimism that the joint ticket of Mr Peter Obi and Datti, will reverse the ugly trend in provision of basic health across rural commumities in the country.
He assured that ESPOD will replicate free medicare and eye tests with free drugs it imparted to Iheaka community to most other communities in Enugu state, as a measure of sensitizing the citizens to vote Mr Peter Obi as next president of Nigeria.

The event which was witnessed by the Labour party senatorial candidate in Enugu North senatorial district, the house of Representative candidate for Nsukka/ Igbo-Eze South and other aspirants. The occasion ended up with refreshments and an official opening of Igbo-Eze South/Iheaka office of ESPOD donated by Dt Felix Ugwu.
