From Maduabuchi Nmeribeh, Kano

Kano state Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim Getso has said that Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s administration remains committed towards ensuring clean and waste-free environment.

Getso stated this during routine inspection of evacuation of waste by the state Taskforce Committee on waste evacuation, at Adakawa dump site in Dala Local Government Area, within the state metropolis.

The Commissioner further pledged to continue to explore more ways to manage and clear waste in the metropolis to maintain clean and healthy environment for residents.

Getso, however, expressed satisfaction at the level of waste evacuation within Kano city, just as he tasked the Committee to put in more efforts.

He assured the people in the area that the bulldozer machine will remain at the site until total evacuation of waste at dump site was completed.

The Commissioner also enjoined people in the area to complement government’s concerted efforts by avoiding indiscriminate dumping of waste which may lead to blockege of water ways.

Responding on behalf of the people in the area malam Hamza Abdullahi Adakawa, an elder in the community, expressed appreciation to Governor Ganduje for putting smiles in their faces.
