From Maurice Okafor. Enugu.

The over estimated APC presidential rally featuring Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. held at Okpara Square Enugu, on Wednesday, January 11 state, eventually did not live up to expectations, as major stakeholders of the party at top hierachy holding appointive positions boycotted the mega rally at Michael Okpara square.

The boycott of the mega rally at Okpara square rallying point is alleged to be connected with the sidelining of most of the major party stakeholders by the current Enugu state chairman of the party, Barr. Ugochukwu Agballah.

Among the party stakeholders who boycotted the Okpara spuare rally were the immediate past governor of Enugu state., Mr Sullivan Chime, a former senate President. Chief K en Nnamani, Minister of foreipn affairs. Mr Geoffrey Onyeama, the D irector General, Voice of Nigeria(VON), Mr Osita Okechukwu and the immediate past state chairman of the party, Dr Ben Nwoye, etc.

It was gathered that many of the stakeholders turned up at the Akanu Ibiam airport reception of Bola Tinubu and the National working committee of the party but deliberately decided to boycott the Okpara square mega rally on the claims that they were not offcially invited by the state chairman. Barr Ugo Agballah.

Speaking at Okpara square, the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu commended the resilience of some of the party stakeholders like Chief Gbazueagu Nweke Gbazueagu, GNG, who came to Okpara spuare. He disclosed that Chief GNG has been his politcal soul mate since the era of SDP. He equally commended Chief Emma Eneukwu, former National Deputy C hairman(South East) and poured encomiuns on Governor Hope Uzodinma for his contributions to the growth of the party in the zone

He tasked the stakeholders to work hard to ensure the success of his presidential bid, promising juicy packages thereafter.

Tinubu promised to make Enugu state one of the industrial hubs in Nigeria, just as he developed Lagos, using natural deposits in the state such as coal while maximising agricultural potentials of the state.
