Peace returns to Finima Community after years of chieftaincy tussle

One year after the coronation of Aseme Alabo Dagogo Lambert Brown, as the Amadabo of Finima town in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers state, a relative peace have returned in the community.

The AUTHORITY observed, that the ancient Finima community has returned back to its peaceful existence following the recent victory of the current traditional ruler in court, after decades of stool tussle.

Recalled that the stool had suffered so much threats and litigations until the emergence of Alabo Lambert Brown about a year ago.

The emergence of the new monarch resulted from the judgement of a competent court of jurisdiction in Port Harcourt Suit, No. PHC/174/72 and Enugu Appeal Court Judgment of Suit, No. FCA/E/60/80, as well as a Res-adjudicate judgment of suit No. PHC/ 

745/2012. 

Speaking at the official opening of the palace of the Amadabo of Finima and his 1st coronation anniversary at the weekend, Alabo Lambert Brown said the throne has been officially dedicated to God Almighty in His supremacy to direct his rulership and in generation to come 

The monarch explained that the Finima community has been in existence as far back as 1100AD, stressing that “Finima aborigines, being the first arrivals on the Island and most ancient community in Bonny kingdom, was founded as ‘Clan Heads’ far before the inception and introduction of Chieftaincy House system by King Perekule in 1740”.

He explained that with divine and Godly consciousness of its leadership in the past, the community was able to provide an aslyum to protect the early christians missionaries of the Niger Delta against prosecution, “Thus providing an open door for the word of God to diffuse into nook and crannies of kingdoms in the nation of Nigeria”.

The paramount ruler further disclosed that it is based on the historical background of the community that “the Amadabo in Council do hereby import highly revered men of God to anchor the dedication of this remodelled most ancient palace in Bonny kingdom, as well as to commemorate the first anniversary of my coronation as Chief and Head of Buoye Omuso Brown Major House and Amadabo of Finima, Kongo XVII”.

Dedicating the palace to God, Rev. Steve Ogan, said a covenant was established in 1861 in Finima with God, saying that the community is a refuge for kings, for the people and a resource center for Africa.

Ogan who led other clergy in the prayer, assured that out of the palace human resources will rise to the highest level attracting development to the area and Nigeria at large.

Also speaking at the event, Warialabo Airigha Brown, secretary to the council of Chiefs, explained that “In 2016 this house signed a constitution into law and that is what we are going to follow and through the process Aseme Dagogo Lambert Brown, in the contest of four emerged as the winner and it is the house position to stand by it.

“We know that in such chieftaincy tussle so many issues comes up like thugs, agitations but as a house and community we have to stand by our constitution and that is what we have done. By the grace of God we have gone to court, won in court and still in court”, Airigha added.
