Enugu 2023: We must have to consolidate on the gains of the Town Hall meetings, says Deacon Ogbodo

The Deputy Director General(East),Enugu state PDP campaign organization, Deacon Okey Ogbodo, has described the Town Union meetings embarked by the PDP state campaign team across the 260 wards of the state,with governorship candidate of the party,Dr Peter Mbah as very successful, but urged that the gains will be consolidated by engaging critical stake holders, pressure groups,opinion moulders,town unions,etc in the various communities on the vitality to exercise their franchise and to vote for PDP candidates in the February 25 and March 25 general elections.

Dr Peter Mbah used the opportunity of the Town hall meetings to interface with political leaders and grass roots of the various communities in Enugu and articulated their various demands of social amenities into models. He promised to tackle those needs,if elected as the next civilian governor of Enugu state.

Deacon Okey Ogbodo described the concluded Town hall meetings as a great plus for the    PDP while addressing party stalwarts from Enugu East senatorial district yesterday, during their zonal meeting held at the state PDP campaign office, located at Ugwuoba street, Independence layout,Enugu.

Enugu East senatorial district comprises of six local government areas namely Nkanu East,Nkanu West.Enugu East,Enugu North,Enugu South and Isi Uzo local government areas of the state. It is the senatorial district of Dr Peter Mbah.

Deacon Ogbodo explained that amidst the success of the concluded Town Hall meetings, Dr Peter Mbah has passionately appealed to further our enlightement programmes on the election to the polling units and wards in the various communities,as such that the electorates will turn out massively to cast their votes, so we can reduce the rate of ‘voters aparthy’in the election.

His words,’ I called you this afternoon so we can strategize  on to further our campaigns accros the wards and polling units in our senatorial. It is the directive of our in coming governor(Peter Mbah) that the three of us,(Campaign Directors) should step into our various zones and synergize with the already established groups so as to maximise our chances of winning. We should not rely on the euphoria that Enugu state is a PDP state’.

Deacon Ogbodo commended the efforts of the six council chairmen of Enugu East senatorial zone in this  direction so far, stating that the various party stalwarts under his leadership are working to join forces with them,so as to achieve victory for all PDP candidates.

He mentioned the terms of reference to include educating the electorates to come out to exercise their franchise. gingering them to overcome fear of insecurity with a view of curtailing voter aparty, engaging and convincing  the stakeholders, market women, commercial bus drivers, keke drivers.opinion moulders, the traders, Religeous groups,among others to vote for Dr Peter Mbah and other PDP candidates in the elections.

Responding, the coordinating local government chairman for Enugu East senatorial district,Hon Livinus Anieke,who is also the chairman of Enugu East local government area,emphasised that all of them are committed and working for the success of PDP in the election,stating they will always welcome new ideas and additional strategies from Deacon Okey Ogbodo led committee and the general public.

Several suggestions on how to gain maximum support for PDP candidates were put forward.

Among the political stalwarts from Enugu East senatorial district who attended yesterday meeting were Hon Anayo Edeh, who represented Nkanu East/Nkanu West federal constituency thrice in the last dispentation, Hon Osita Ogene.a former Isi Uzo local government area chairman,Hon Paul Nnajiofor,seeking a return to the state assembly for Nkanu East constituency,Hon Nana Ogbodo. Director,Communications and spokesman of Dr Peter Mbah Campaign organisation, Mr Ucheani Chukwu,the serving six council chairmen of the zone. several of their past colleagues, among others.
