The chairman Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Christopher Maikalangu has commissioned a new solar powered borehole and transformer located in Damgma and Wupa areas of the council.
During the commissioning, the chairman told the benefiting communities that the projects were initiated to help the rural dwellers enjoy potable water and electricity.
He urged the residents to always protect government facilities in their domains, to encourage the government to make provision for additional ones.
Maikalangu said his administration would go round AMAC communities to monitor the rate of work going on in the communities identified for projects.
In a statement issued by Senior Special Assistant on Media and public affairs to the chairman, Kinsley Madaki, called on the contractors to deliver exactly the jobs given to them by the council or risk revocation of their contracts.
Residents of Damgma and Wupa Communities in Jiwa and Gwagwa wards of the council have commended the Maikalangu -led administration for entrenching good governance through the execution of people oriented projects in various communities.
The Village Head, Damgma Community Chief Ayuba Sunday said the provision of water was very essential facility that will safe every member of the community against diseases and reduction of water related diseases in the community.
“We have waited for the provision of borehole in this community for decades, all to no avail and the past chairmen will come and campaign in this community after promising us and getting our votes they will disappear, but look at now, God has brought this chairman that promised and fulfilled it within a short time. We thank him and pray that almighty God will protect him, guide him and grant him all the necessary wisdom to led us”
A resident of Wupa communit Mr Uzor Daniel, said that Maikalangu has proven his capability by providing the community with the installation of rural electricity in the community, adding that the business ac in the community will boom and both indigenes and none indigene for the first time will experience power supply.
“We have all decided to give him every support he needed now. We are very thankful and excited. This is what government is all about. Providing the needs of the people and bringing government very closer to the people at the rural areas level“
