Rivers to Host Prayer Section in Abuja for Successful Govt Transition

By Douglas Blessing

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Mr Tony Okocha has revealed that Rivers State will be hosting a prayer section to successfully usher in a new government on May 29, 2023.

According to Okocha, Chairman, Concerned APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) in the just concluded February 25, 2023 election in Rivers State, the prayer section will hold in Abuja on May 27, this year.

The APC leader and former of Chief of Staff in the state, disclosed this yesterday in Port Harcourt, when an ethnic group under the aegis of Ikwerre Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (IMPAN) led by their chairman,  Monday Wehere presented him with an award of excellence in politics.

Okocha explained that the prayer section which has commenced since May 1, this year, is intended to ensure a peaceful atmosphere during the transition period and also a prove that the incoming government is all inclusive of all religious groups.

“When the Obidient took the Unity Fountain and they were chanting interim government, something happened and as I speak to you today, that Unity Fountain has been taken over by the Progressives. What they did is in agreement with the president elect. They have set aside from May 1 – 28 for prayer sections so that those who think that Tinubu was anti-christians and prayers will have known that it is not correct.

“On May 27, is the turn of Rivers State. Rivers people will be hosting that prayer section at the Unity Fountain in Abuja and we are going there in our large numbers. On 29th, the same delegation of Rivers people will be there to cover our own space at the pavilion”.

Speaking on the role of Rivers in the emergence of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President – elect, Okocha said “We propagated Tinubu in the media, even at the time when it was rigorous and we didn’t know where we are going to, but we were very sure there will be light at the end of the tunnel and Tinubu emerged as the president.

“We followed up when some people dropped off. We saw Tinubu from the beginning to the end and he is president elect today. We also spoke, convince the G5 governors, not only in Rivers State to support the candidacy of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“The five states where the G5 governors headsway, PDP didn’t win. It is alot better in Rivers that the PDP family aided us in breaking the jinx of Rivers State being at the periphery at the opposition”.

The APC leader who noted that Ikwerre indigenous people holds the ace in the political landscape of Rivers State, thanked the Journalists for honour accorded him. He also urged the media practitioners and politicians to always uphold truth as virtue in their area of profession.
