ACCI Commemorates Africa Day 2023

The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry has joined the rest of the world to commemorate the Africa Day 2023.

This year celebrations is identified with the with the hashtag, #OurAfricaOurFuture to explain Africa’s milestone against the odds whilst agitating that more needs to be done to enable Africans to live a happy and healthy life.

The Africa Day commemorates the founding of the Organisation of African Unity which is now known as the African Union on the 25th of May, in the year 1963. It was formally known as African Freedom Day and then African Liberation day, having its origin in the collective African resistance to colonialism and economic exploitation with an intention to highlight Africa’s continued collective struggle against adversity.

In a statement by the President ACCI, Dr Al-Mujtaba in commemorating the 60th Anniversary stated that Africans have come thus far with the role and contribution of the founders of the continental organisation and many other Africans on the continent and in the diaspora who have contributed greatly to the political liberation of the continent, and equally, to the socio-economic emancipation of Africa.

He said, ACCI as a business organisation acknowledges that in order to accomplish global happiness, economic development must be complemented by total freedom and good fortune adding that, this is a day African people celebrate the African Union, an organisation where Africans work together for the common good of Africa.

The President also called on Africans Continual striving for togetherness, peace, happiness, unity, liberation and economically driven results in order to eschew any forms of adversity.
