Democracy Day: Nigeria needs sincere leaders

*Calls for support for Akpabio/Barau’s leadership

Global Peace Movement International, UK says Nigeria needs sincere leadership to grow and attain its full potential as the giant of Africa.

President General of the group, Dr. Mike Uyi stated this when he spoke with newsmen ahead of the June 12 presidential election.

He said that Nigerian’s approach to leadership was wrong, saying that the primary goal of many leaders in the country was self-enrichment.

“Leading a country involves making policies and finding solutions to problems, ensuring stability of the polity, and guiding the country to prosperity.

“But a large number of Nigerian leaders lacked the vision, passion, and the character to effectively govern and deal with the economic situation.

“In order to achieve the Nigeria of our dreams, we as citizens must first change our values, attitudes and orientation.

“This is because values are the building blocks of national development and no nation can achieve its developmental aspirations unless her citizens embrace and espouse the right values and attitudes,” he said.

Dr. Uyi called on Nigerians to support Senator Akpabio and Barau Jibrin as the next leaders of the red Chamber so as to build a rock-solid foundation for the purposeful administration of the country.

Uyi said Senator Akpabio/Barau’s leadership of the 10th Nigerian Senate promises to be the pillar of support for the smooth administration of Nigeria under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

According to him, both Sen Akpabio and Sen Barau have shown the world unrivalled capacity of being superlative leaders adding that little wonder, the Stability Group led by Senator Ali Ndume is rallying support behind their aspirations as Senate President and Deputy Senate President.
