10TH NASS- A dawn in Enugu state political leadership

From Maurice Okafor,Enugu.

The composition of members of the legislators from Enugu state who will be inaugurated at the National Assembly tomorroe,Tuesday,June 13,from all indication will stir a new direction in the quality of representation and political leadreship of Enugu state.

The three persons who will be sworn in as senators from Enugu state to serve at the National assemnly for the next four years unless/until the tribunal or court states the otherwise are Barrister Okey Ezea,to represent Enugu North senatorial district ,Senator Kelvin Ugwu to represent Enugu East senatorial district and Senator Osita Ngwu to represent Enugu West senatorial district.

One common feature about them is the fact that they are relatively new to the Upper chambers of the legislative house. Their difference stems on the fact that Senators Okey Ezea and Kelvin Ugwu iof Labour party while senator Osita Ngwu is of PDP.

The composition is quite difference from the previous National assemblies, where the PDP always produced the three senators who represented Enugu state at the national assembly.

Equally at the House of Representatives, new faces will be representing Enugu state in the green house in seven federal constituencies, except for Nksnu East/West federal constituency where Hon Nnolim Nnaji will be returning for another term.
A paradigm shift in the Enugu state representation st the house of assembly stems on the fsct that except for Hon Nnolim Nnaji, the seven new house of representative members were all elected on the plartform of Labour party.

However though new they are, some of them are men of pedigree with proven records of achievements in their previous endeavours while some are promising politicians with burning derire and commitment to serve their respective constituencies, nugu state and Nigeria creditably.

Among them is Professor Paul Nnamchi. While as lecturer,Prof Nnamchi attracted foreign grants to Enugu state University of Science and Technology(ESUT),Some of the largesse of which were extended to University of Nigeria Nsukka(UNN). Prof Nnamchi’s institute is still operational at ESUT.

Prof Mbah whose mission in politics is a call to service to liiberate his people will be representing Enugu East/Isi Uzo federal constituency at the federal house of Representatives. He is ptomising to uplift his people especially the Youths with technological skills that will expose them to global employment market.

During the Easter holidays, he offered free computer trsining to hundreds of Youths from his constituency and Enugu metropolis,,as a meadure to facilitate their ICT literacy and to keep them off crime related activities during the holidays.
